Even though there's not enough space to give an insight into each and
every song, I feel that I must tell you that I wrote Whistle Stop after
watching Fanny Flagg's Fried Green Tomato's, ( good movie ). Also
for several years I was crop duster and often times would fly in formation
with other pilots while working. Cecil's Lullaby is a true story about
one of them. He was my friend.

Recording this album brought back that special magic I used to feel when I
was growing up jamming and playing music with my friends in high school
bands. It was recorded with all the musicians in the studio playing
together at the same time rather than as separate rhythm sections, lead
sections, etc. It was kind of like a series of real near jam sessions where
everyone was playing off each other. As a result, you may notice
some f the songs have extra long endings. These seemed to occur in
the wee hours of the morning with lights dimmed and everyone playing
"in the pocket" as Janie puts it. We were in the groove
and couldn't or didn't want to stop. I hope while you're listening
you feel the same emotions we felt and won't want to stop either - except
to share it with your friends.
Happy Listening
